Ed Quek has over 25 years commercial underwriting and management experience in the industry having worked for several large  insurance companies over the years. After graduating from the University of Southern California  with a degree in Finance and Marketing, he started his insurance career in Toronto with the Sovereign General Insurance Company.  Wanting to be closer his family, he moved back to Vancouver after several years and  has held progressive underwriting and management  positions  at  Intact, Aviva, CNA and Economical Insurance. Ed joined Cansure  in 2014 as one of the Underwriting Mangers and helped with the growth and development of their commercial products.  Today, he oversees  all of Cansure’s Commercial Lines and works with over 20 Practice Leaders including Manufacturing and Wholesale, Professional and Management Liability, Cyber, Terrorism, Accident and Health, Contractors, Sports and Recreation, Pollution, Legal Expense, Construction and Realty to  develop and enhanced their practice so that Cansure maintains state of the art products in the marketplace, driven by a culture of innovation and execution.

Underwriting Manager, Specialty Lines Practice Leader

Sydney Knowles is an Underwriting Manager and Professional Services Practice Leader at Cansure. She began her insurance career at a small brokerage before moving to underwriting with Cansure in 2011. Sydney’s career began with a balance of knowledge in commercial property, general liability and professional liability. Over the last few years, she has focused on underwriting professional services and the multiple lines of coverage offered under this practice, including Errors and Omissions Liability, Medical Malpractice Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Technology Errors and Omissions, and Media Liability. Sydney works closely with brokers to provide a packaged solution for risks. She is a Chartered Insurance Professional and looks forward to working with you to provide solutions for risks with a professional liability exposure.
